Busy, Busy, Busy!!!

Have you been like me, scowering through every book and Christmas magazine looking for great ideas for this coming season?

I always love going through my old magazines and getting new ideas for different projects.

With the Christmas show at Monticello Antique Marketplace coming up oh so quickly,  my #1 and I have been busy getting furniture ready.

My sweet parents have let us use their garage to store some of it as it looks like the furniture has taken over our house.

Eeek!

We were out this week-end again and found more great pieces for the show.

Here is one of the things I found.

This wonderful old postal clock.

I just love it!

Here are a few other smaller finds.

I'm actually trying to mark things ahead of time and box them up so they are ready to go!

Isn't that a sweet baby picture?

It's quite large, approximatly 10x14 in.

Dated 1836.

Well, it's not the most exciting post, but I didn't want to leave you with a week old post so I thought I'd show you a few of my finds as small as they may be.

A Trip To The Dahlia Farm

Yesterday, was our Fall field trip at school.

We took the kids to a couple of parks in Canby where they ate lunch,  played games and went on a pumpkin hunt also.

This year we added an additional stop and went to see the Swan Island Dahlias.

Everything was in bloom and looked so beautiful.

I couldn't resist taking pictures.

Just click on the photos to get a bigger picture of the Dahlias.

This is just a small portion of the dahlias they offer.

You can order these on-line this Spring.

I loved this "Platnium Blond" Dahlia it reminded me of Peonies, one of my favorites!

The "Japanese Bishop" Dahlia was interesting.

If you touch the tip of the bud, red liquid comes out.

I wouldn't have known that but when you look at flowers with a 1st grader you find out these things. (o:

"Dad's Favorite" loved that one too!

They also had a Koi Pond!

And last, I couldn't resist collecting all the Chestnuts I could find, well not all.

Perfect for Fall!

Prickly too!

Great Marketeer Finds!

Well, today I'm joining the Flea Marketeer Party!

A very fun event hosted by the people at  the Flea Market blog.

I was pretty bummed out this week-end as I had a class to take and was not going to be able to hit the sales early in the morning, like I usually do.

This meant my #1 would be out searching alone until I could join  him.

Poor guy, he has such a hard time trying to figure out what I want.

I thought I had him pretty trained.

He did come home with some pretty sweet postcards though.

I do appreciate all his effort!

When I was finally done with my class, I went to a couple of sales and was pretty disappointed as I didn't find anything.

I made up for it the next day, Sunday.

After church my #1 and I headed north to a sale we didn't go to the previous day.

All I can say is, "SCORE"!

Half price too!

We were able to get so many great things for the Christmas Show at Monticello.

Many of these things were on my "need to find" list.

We were able to take the wonderful old metal bed and one of the tables immediately to Monticello which is always nice, two less things to store here at home.

I picked up some pretty tablecloths at another sale.

I love these old cast iron "things" I'm not sure what they are called but I love them!

Here is an old wicker carriage and a vintage wood cage.

And last but not least, these two clip boards.

This  particular kind seems very hard to find so I was very pleased to find two on Saturday.

Thank you so much for coming by and seeing what I found this week-end!

Be sure to jump over to the other participants in the blog party!

Christmas On My Brain

Besides the zillions of other things on my mind, Christmas has moved it's way to the top of the list.

In less then 2 months we will be involved in the Christmas Show at Monticello.

So, I am on the look out for great items to bring to the show.

I'm also busy crafting!

Here is what my dining room floor looks like right now.

At least part of it!

I haven't even taken the time to unload my treasures from this week-end.

So, I'll show you some of the bigger items that couldn't fit inside the bags.

I got into a huge box of cork.

This is an item that comes in handy.

But, because there are so many I may have to find some great old jars and fill up a few.

This big squishy needlepoint pillow was another find.

I love this old tree stand, my #1 found.

Vintage Christmas, don't you just love it, especially when it comes in muted colors.

Isn't it wonderful!

I love the colors and the decal.

This is before it was cleaned  up.

I couldn't pass up this wonderful old base to a floor lamp.

It just had all the great things I enjoy, chippy, cream and cast iron.

Any creative uses for this?

I'd sure love to hear from you.

Then lastly, an old suitcase.

Underneath are a couple of projects from the previous week still waiting to be done.

There are enough projects here to keep me busy!

But alas, I have school, so I'm off to 1st grade.

Talk to you later!

Last Week-Ends Finds!

This week has been busy as I have been teaching 1st grade all week.
Normally, I aide the teacher, but she is on vacation so I'm getting the lesson plans together and grading papers etc...

It's actually been a lot of fun, just very busy.

So, before the week totally gets away, I wanted to show you a few things I was able to pick up this past week-end.

I found quite a few millinery flowers for $1.00 a piece.

I always enjoy finding those.

Tri-fold mirrors, love those too!

Found two of them.

At one of the sales I went to, I ventured out into the garage.
Nothing was priced.

You know, one of those dark rundown garages where if you put your hand under a bench, if it's warm and fuzzy, RUN!!!

I risked it!

Here I found these great old wood totes, I love those things!

My #1 found this old lantern.

He wasn't sure what I would think about it, but for $1.50 he thought he'd take a chance.

Perfect for Fall!

Here is a tiny boxing glove.
I think it was probably a salesman sample.

And lastly, old shoes and knobs.

These knobs are quite small, they will come in handy on tiny cabinets.

I hope your week is going well!

Thank you for stopping by.

A Little Creating!

I wanted to do a quick post today as this week appears to be a very busy week.

My #1 and I hit a few estate sales this week-end and found a few goodies.

I hope to post a few pictures later this week.

Here are a few blackbirds that flew into my house last week.

They received  a make-over then flew to the shop!

You can't see it in the photos but they are enjoying black glitter all over their wings.

What girl doesn't like a little sparkle!

They were pretty simple to embelish and a lot of fun to create!

Last week I noticed I had won a giveaway from Melanie at All My Favorite Things.

Since Melanie's shop is local I was able to pick from a variety of necklaces.

If you'd like to win a fabulous giveaway she has a monthly drawing.

All you have to do is be a follower on her blog.
