On the way into school yesterday I saw this beautiful spider's web, fortunately the spider was not around but isn't a web truly an amazing and intricate piece of work.

Last night I had a barbecue to go to at school so I was unable to go to an auction that same evening. My #1 was so sweet to go by himself and bid on a few items I was interested in. This auction is not just around the corner so he had a little ways to drive. What a good sport!

I love vintage paper and there was a lot there, but it was going for the big bucks. Here are a few pictures of some of the items he came home with.

These books are not in great shape but there's just something fun about them.

Vintage Christmas, and you know how much I enjoy that!

Not real sure what the goal was here, but I'm sure it was something wonderful!

This is an old wood box filled with vintage buttons.

And last but not least the box I wanted him to bid on. A box of old paper. I wasn't quite sure what was in it. I was hoping it was crepe paper but it ended up being some delicate vintage paper made in Hong Kong. There was a little crepe paper thrown in as well, still very pretty!

Finally, we celebrated Jonathan's birthday today as yesterday evening was spent with his friends. Can you see what we got him for his birthday?

This is a kid that doesn't ask for a lot of things. He has been so satisfied with his Nintendo 64 for years. We thought his 16 birthday would be a good time to get him a WII. It actually looks like a lot of fun too!

My Baby's Turning Sixteen!

Where does the time go?

It seems like only yesterday I was running after a two year old! Now my son will be turning 16 on Friday and life has gotten even busier. Overall he's been a great kid. We have definitely had our good times and our bad. Jonathan is very social and likes to be involved in all kinds of activities. We get a lot of sweet comments from people about how much they appreciate things that he has done for them If you're a mother of a teenager you know it's always good to hear kind words of encouragement.

I love you Jonathan and pray that you will be a man after God's own heart! I hope your birthday is a special one for you!

Week-End Finds

This will just be a quick post. My #1 and I had a great week-end treasure hunting. Here are a few items we were able to pick up. I hope you enjoy looking at these pictures. I know it's always fun looking at the things all of you find.

First off, we got into a couple of boxes of vintage patterns, always a fun find!

Here is a wonderful old picture of "The Last Supper". The vintage picture frame right beside it was a Goodwill find today. Got to love those old picture frames!

This cute cabinet and the old file box was a fun find also. The little white boxes contain the sweetest baby shoes.

Then lastly, I got into some old Christmas items, love vintage Christmas!

Thanks for stopping by and seeing my fun finds!

Rescue

Boy, did we have a wonderful treat this morning at church. The singing group, Rescue, sang for us. I don't know if you've heard of this talented group of guys but they're a wonderful a cappella Christian group out of Gresham, Oregon. Often their music sounds like there are some instruments in the background but all of the music is actually produced with their voices and the microphone. Pretty remarkable! If you ever get a chance to see them in concert, it is so worth it. I have two of their cd's and just had to buy their newest one, "Before The Throne". If you're looking for a great Christmas album, try, "The First Christmas", you'll love it. If you want to listen to this group, just click on Rescue and you will be directed to their website.

Here are a few more pictures of some things I picked up for half price on Sunday. It's so much fun finding good things for half price!

I found out a few months back that Goodwill opens at 8:00am. It is to perfect! I'm able to hit it right before work, which starts at 9:00. Here are a few things I picked up yesterday.

Old music cases, I thought they looked great. The vintage paper in the violin case is really nice also.

I picked up an old pack, which I thought would be perfect to display vintage photos.

Well, I better get something done today, so I'm off!

Talk later!

A Fun Day At The Auction!

Treasure hunting looked pretty bad this week-end. I didn't find anyplace I wanted to go on Friday. Saturday went about the same way. My #1 and I did make a stop to a favorite stomping ground though and found a chandelier and three wonderful old pillars, I was pretty excited.

I hope you can see it through all the "stuff" behind it!

Sunday after church we decided to hit a sale that was 50% off. I didn't expect much but was wonderfully surprised with the things I found. I'll try and take some pictures of those items this week. They're still all wrapped up.
After that we headed to an auction down the street. It was an on-site auction, which is always fun. But, boy, was it hot. This was a car parts auction but you never know!

This is what the auction looked like, not too appealing.

Not a pretty site! I was hoping there would be something pretty beneath all this "guy stuff", and there was. Here are a few things I came home with.

A couple of vintage photo albums, no pictures, shoot! But still a fun and pretty find.

Now don't drool, but I came away with old hand written books from the early 1800's. The writing in them is so beautiful. I can't believe the time it must have taken to write this way, what an art! They seem to be the schoolwork of a young lady. One book is where she practised her handwriting and another is notes from a basic accounting class. Many of the pages are signed with her name and a date. They are very beautiful and special.

I have to say I was pretty tired when I got home. We stayed there about 5 hours waiting through boxes and boxes of car items before the items I was interested in came up for bid.
Overall a pretty good day!

I wanted to do an update also on my mom. Her MRI came out good, I was so glad! And guess what, little by little her hearing is coming back. God does answer prayer!

Fall Is In The Air!

Fall is in the air at Monticello this week! Lots of people are setting up for the Fall show. It should be a lot of fun! Seeing all the Fall items just got me in the mood to make pumpkins for my space at Monticello.
I decided to pick up some pumpkins and give them a fresh coat of paint with a cinnamon concoction applied to each of them. I then decorated each one with ribbons and vintage jewelry. I think they're pretty sweet!

I went to Coburg on Sunday for the antique show. What a great event! I did come home with a few items. I took quite a few pictures also. While going through my pictures, I noticed the sweetest little pincushion. The strange thing was I hadn't noticed it while I was busy flashing my camera. Fortunately for me, it belonged to my friend Lisa from A Thing For Roses. I was able to pick it up from her today. She gave me a great deal on it! Thanks Lisa!

She's the sweet little pink fish on the shelf. This was one of many displays in Lisa's booth.

Here are a few of the items I ended up bringing home.

My #1 was pretty pleased with himself. He found a fun old box with fishing items in it. He offered less and got it, I think that's why there's a big smile on his face!

He loves his vintage fishing!

Thanks for stopping by!

Today was a great day for estate shopping! We only went to two, but we did pretty well! Last night I got a call from someone who runs estate sales. He told us he would be having a sale and he thought we would like it. This particular sale wouldn't hit the paper until the next day. So we hurried down and signed up for it. We ended up being 3 and 4 on the list! Yeah! Isn't it fun to get a "heads up" on an estate sale!

Here are some of the items we were able to purchase.

Here are a few close-ups as it's pretty hard to see.

This is a musical birthday card. You can turn the knob on the side and it plays "Happy Birthday". Cardboard box envelope is just as fun as the card, well almost!

My #1 was even happy, he found a few things he liked also.

Tomorrow we'll be taking a road trip and head to Coburg for their antique market. It should be a lot of fun!
