My Summer Project!

Do you have a room in your house that you just don't like?

A lot of us probably do.

For me that would be the bedroom.

I don't even like going in there as there is so much "stuff" everywhere.

Since my #1 let me take over the room that he had all his collectible hunting and fishing in, where did his things go.... that's right the bedroom.

We have a three bedroom home.

One room for us, one for our son and the other is my studio.

We just need a bigger house!

But until then, I'll appreciate what I have and work with what I've got!

Now that school is over, that is until Fall, my goal is to "LOVE" our bedroom again!

(another piece from French lady)

Here is a little chair I picked up last week-end.

It's my inspiration for my room.

White, peaceful and clutter free!

I like the sound of that.

time

(collection of pocket watches)

time(tim)n.-A non spatial continuum in which events occur in apparently irreversible succession from the past through the present to the future.

(a few old clock faces)

White Wednesday snuck up on me this time.

I guess it is true, time gets away!

Life has been pretty busy!

School ends this week so there are many things happening because of this.

My son's theater group is in a production of Seussical also, so that keeps us pretty busy.

"We" I say "we" because as any parent knows parent involvement is needed to help with the production, just finished our first week-end run, one more to go!

It's been a good run!

This looks like a pocket watch doesn't it?

Well, I guess it is a pocket watch but not one you could stick in your pocket.

I found this, this past week-end.

It's an old wall clock, measuring about 14".

A fun old clock!

Thank you Kathleen of Faded Charm for hosting another fabulous White Wednesday!

One More Find!

Well, I have to tell you.

My #1 came walking through the door today, after work and said, "Well, you better give her a name!"

He noticed my newest dress form hadn't moved!

I guess he's right!

I wanted to show you one more thing I picked up from the French lady's estate this week-end.

I spotted a broken table.

My #1 thought I was nuts but I could see it was going to be so darn cute when put back together.

It has a wonderful look about it!

I love the natural wood combined with the old paint.

I want to believe that this is a French table that was brought over from Europe as there were other French pieces in this home.

So for $3.00 I think it's pretty sweet!

P.S. Welcome home Miss Lacey!

Bringing Home a Little Bit of France

Maybe I should say I found a little bit of France!

While out on the hunt today one of the sales I went to was the home of a French lady.

There were not a lot of things, as the family had taken many items, but that's as it should be.

I did manage to find some old French books though.

Another thing I found was a dress form.

I usually pass up these particular dress forms but this one was right up my alley.

Yes, it was French!

Do you see the label?

Love it!

Old wood screws.

A great old base.

Now I just need to decide if I exchange it with one that I have or take it to the shop.

On another note...I'm blogging this on my netbook.

I've been without it for a whole day!

I know that doesn't seem long but I love the fact that I can kick up my feet while with the family and still check out everyone's pretty blogs.

While surfing the internet Friday, looking for coloring pages for a project.

I encountered an awful virus!

Don't people have better things to do with there time then to create viruses!

(insert mad face!)

Awful things were popping up on my computer!

Fortunately, we have a wonderful friend that knows everything about computers and was able to fix it!

Thank you John!

He has fixed many a problem.

I'll get off my little rampage now and leave you with this picture I took the other night.

Mr. Riley thinks he has found the perfect spot to rest.

An old Bible I recently picked up!

Mr. Riley, we've gotta talk!!!

Not Just For Christmas!

(vintage white shelf paper)

Welcome White Wednesday!

Today, for my White Wednesday post I thought I'd show you my pretty mercury glass picks.

I know they're not white but they are surrounded by white.

I love the old silver picks and decided they're just too pretty to store away for Christmas.

So, I decided to get them out and add them to my vintage millinery flowers.

And you know what?

I don't think they look like Christmas decorations at all!

I love the sparkle they give a display.

So, watch out!

Now I'm on the search for more silver mercury picks!

Gotta love them!

Thank you Kathleen of Faded Charm for hosting another wonderful White Wednesday!

A Few Treasures From The Hunt!

I wanted to share with you a couple of fun things I found this week-end.

I have to say there are a few things that I'm not ready to give up right away.

One of them being this wonderful old laundry cart.

I haven't found any with this particular print on it.

Sav-Ur-Bak

Isn't that great!

I'm afraid I found the perfect place for it.

I thought I could store my burlap pillows in it until they're ready to take to the shop.

Another thing I found was a set of 30 old Britannica Encyclopedias.

The cover on each book is a soft worn leather.

They are dated 1911.

I don't know, I have a thing for old books.

I just love how they look and these definitely fit into the "old look" I love.

And last, but not least a sweet little pitcher, another item to add to my collection.

That makes "3"!

Did you do well treasure hunting this week-end?

Something To Remember

Last night I had a dream.

I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord.

Across the sky flashed scenes from my life.

For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonged to me, the other to the Lord.

After the last scene of my life flashed before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand.

I noticed that at many times along the path of my life, especially at the very lowest and saddest times, there was only one set of footprints.

This really troubled me, so I asked the Lord about it.

“Lord, you said once I decided to follow you, You’d walk with me all the way.

But I noticed that during the saddest and most troublesome times of my life, there was only one set of footprints.

I don’t understand why, when I needed You the most, You would leave me.”

The Lord replied, “My daughter, my precious child, I love you and I would never leave you.

During your times of suffering, when you could see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.”

The Day After...

I hope you had a relaxing Mother's Day!

This little girl is tuckered out!

She had a houseful of people yesterday, which we enjoyed, but she gets so scared.

She's such a silly girl!

Guess what I got yesterday?

Yes, a Snowball tree!

My dear mother and father gave it to me.

My mom read my blog and since she has all those great mothering skills she saw what I wanted.

Isn't that sweet, she gave me a Mother's Day gift!

That's just like her!

Loving, caring and attentive to her children's needs and wants even now that we're grown.

My son and my #1 made a wonderful Mother's Day dinner for everyone on Sunday.

Chocolate was passed out to all the mothers.

Some ladies might get upset with chocolate, but I love it!

So this afternoon I kicked up my feet, looked through a new book and ate chocolate!

Thanks honey, you know what I like!

Since it was Mother's Day week-end, there weren't a lot of estate sales.

I did manage to go to one on Friday after work though.

It looked like it was a good one when it opened as I saw "sold" signs on many wonderful items.

I did pick up the pretty blue transferware pot.

I love it!

I especially like it filled with pretty roses.

And then I saw this....

I just love "Snowball" trees!

This is a tree I keep telling myself to buy but I just never get around to it.

Fortunately for me, my parents have one and it is beautiful!

Hydrangeas are another favorite of mine.

I hadn't owned any until last year at which time I bought three.

Unfortunately, they still aren't big enough to pick and enjoy inside the house.

Maybe next year!

After school today I decided to drop by a thrift store in the area.

I didn't find anything so I started to head out when this captured my attention.

What do you think it is?

I thought they were probably empty.

But what the heck, I'd take a peek!

This is what I saw.....

It could have been any kind of plates but it wasn't, it was Ironstone!

They were in great condition and they were old.

And...it was a 10 piece place setting.

The only thing that could have made it better is if they were half off!

But, I can live with it!

Happy treasure hunting this week-end!

White Wednesday ~ Monticello Window

Since it's White Wednesday and I finally remembered to take pictures of the window at Monticello.

I thought this would be a good time to share my creamy whites with you.

During the month of May, I will have another little spot to sell my vintage goods.

It's always fun to decorate a new space.

I changed it around a little today as a piece of furniture moved out and a new piece was added.

Oh boy, I can see an empty space to hang a vintage child's dress!

I bought some sea shells at an estate sale a while back.

It was nice to finally get them packaged up!

Be sure to stop by and see what all the fabulous guys and gals are selling at Monticello.

As always you're in for a real treat!

Also, be sure to check out all the participants in the White Wednesday event, hosted by Kathleen of Vintage Charm.
