Is It Spring Yet?

Oh, I am so ready for Spring.

The weather around here has been so unusual.

Yesterday, we woke up to snow on the ground and today the sun is out and it's shining so bright.

My little flowers are peeking out of the ground, they're ready too!

This past week-end while I was at the Thrift Store I came across seven Enamelware trays. I have never seen Enamelware trays before. Maybe coffee pots, bowls etc... but not trays. I liked them, but I was still not to sure how much I liked them and if anyone else would feel the same so I left them sitting on the shelf.

Have you ever had an idea hit you in the middle of the night? I guess in the back of my mind I was trying to figure out what I could do with these trays. SPRING....FLOWERS....These would be perfect to display pretty potted flowers on for Spring!!! They would be practical too as they would catch the water. So....

I went back the next day and bought them!

They were pretty sweet!

Thank you for all the wonderful responses I have received so far on my 100th Post Giveaway! It's still not to late to leave a comment below!

I always love hearing from you!

100th POST GIVEAWAY!

Ok, here it is!

My 100th Post Giveaway!

First of all I would like to say, "Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by and check out my blog. I have loved reading all your comments and looking at your blogs also!"

I've been searching and searching for a fun package for you and today I was able to complete the bundle. I was so excited when my eyes fell upon a wonderful new magazine from the publishers of Belle Armoire and Somerset Studio.

apron.ology

You are going to love it!

I picked it up and started thumbing through it and said, "I've got to have it!" I bought one for myself and another for you! With that, I added a tote that I made using a pretty Spring print called "Barefoot Roses". Of course, the package wouldn't be complete without a Starbucks gift card ($5.00).

Just leave me a comment on this post and I will enter your name into the drawing. Like many of the gals out there, if you tell about the Giveaway on your blog I will enter your name another time. Just let me know!

Be sure to leave your email address if you do not have a blog!

I will draw a name on Wednesday, March 4th.

Thanks Again, You're The BEST!

A Little Sewing A Little Treasure Hunting - Overall A Good Week!

Ok, so since my buddy Sue wasn't knocking down my door to slipcover my stool. I had to do this one on my own! (If you haven't seen her stool be sure to check it out, it's pretty wonderful!)I love ruffles but they are not my favorite thing to make. And I even have a ruffler, what's with that!
Since I had some time off I decided to tackle my stool. I do need to hem it up a bit as it is a bit long, but I do love the look. The cats think it's their own personal playhouse as it's perfect to hide under.

This week-end I was able to do a little estate shopping. Here are a few things I picked up.

This wonderful old Lux clock was at my first stop. It is so sweet and tiny and somehow it made it to my wall. I just need to find a key for it as it did not come with one.

On my last stop Saturday I found this wonderful corner cabinet for $25.00, it was a must have with all the thick creamy chippy paint. I already had a corner cabinet in my kitchen but I liked this one much better. So I unloaded mine, took it to Monticello and put this one in it's place.

I've been thinking and thinking as to what to giveaway for my 100th post. There have been so many great giveaways lately it's a little intimidating. So stay tuned!

Good-Bye To A Very Old Friend!

This week I said,"Good-bye" to an old friend. We have had our piano for quite a few years. Like a lot of mothers out there I had great aspirations for my son. I dreamed that one day he would play the piano, and love doing it! So, we started piano lessons. At first it went pretty well but after a while it became harder and harder to get him to practice. And I got tired of making him practice. So, the beautiful piano just sat against the wall displaying my vintage pottery but not being used like it should be. Of course in defence of my son I have to admit that I too took a few years of piano lessons when I was younger and sad to say I am not a great pianist! But I do admire those who can sit in front of those ivory keys and make them come alive!
I'm telling you this to say on Monday a family came and picked up the piano. Maybe I shouldn't say picked up as it took 4 guys and some major blood, from the piano tilting slightly to get her into the UHaul. With the piano gone this left a whole wall for me to do something with! I had just the piece of furniture I wanted to put there. If you remember quite a few post back I had bought an old pie cabinet, which I had been using at the shop for display.

Well, she came back home with me, "Thanks Honey!". I've had a lot of fun filling her up!

I just love the look of old hardware. So, these door fixtures proudly sit in my display! I know my #1 must think I'm nuts, but it gets them out of his garage and I know he likes that!

Lastly, I was able to make a thrift store stop yesterday and found a couple of sweet vintage tiaras, a fun find!

Thanks so much for stopping by and seeing what I've been up too!
Wow, I just saw that this will be my 98th post so be sure to watch for my 100th post. I'll try and put together some goodies for you!

New Ways To Use Old Items!

Here is a wonderful idea for showing off your vintage cards, photos etc... I'd love to tell you I came up with this idea on my own, but I didn't! This was something I saw in Diane and Donna's booth at Monticello. And so, of course I had to come home and make one myself. It was actually a lot of fun to make! All you need is an old book with 300 or more pages and some fingers that want exercise. A quick and easy project with great results!

Now I want to make a slipcover for a couple of stools. I saw
Sue's slipcover over at Bella Shabby, and she did a great job. She inspired me to start a new project!
I've been busy working on a few projects around the house which I hope to show you pictures of this week.
Have a wonderful day!

Pretty Inspiration!

I thought I would share with you some fun eye candy from one of the booths at Monticello. Two sisters share this booth, Diane and Donna and they do a fabulous job!

You will truly be inspired if you get a chance to see their displays. I hope you enjoyed seeing a little of what they do.

Happy Valentines Day!

Nothing like waiting until the last minute! This morning I woke up and remembered that I needed to make something for the kids at school for Valentines Day. I was a little ahead of the game as I did buy candy but I wanted something different to put the candy in. I wasn't in the mood for "Hello Kitty" or "Race Cars" etc...So feeding my passion for old Bingo cards I put together Valentine cards/containers for the kidos. It was a fun and simple project. Using an old Bingo card I changed "Bingo" to "Heart" and then copied it on pink paper. I wasn't sure if the color pink would go over big with the 1st grade boys but apparently it did!

I hope each of you have a wonderful Valentines Day tomorrow!

A Little Target Shopping!

I did a little Target shopping today. Boy, I couldn't believe how quiet the store was, not very many people there. My goal was a coffee maker! I got a little side-tracked somehow and ended up in the clearance section. Wow, they were running some pretty good sales. I picked up a set of twin flannel sheets for $4.98. I also found the sweet throw blanket shown above for $6.98. And is it the softest blanket! We have a blanket we like to throw over ourselves when watching T.V. but it's getting pretty worn. I would have bought two if they had another one. I know it's going to be a race to this one! But I'm up for the challenge!!! Oh yes, I did get a coffee maker, but the burner on it isn't heating up, just like the one I had to replace. Sounds pretty suspicious doesn't it! I'll let #1 figure that one out.

My Week-End Finds!

Ok, so Mr.Riley thinks he needs to check out every piece that I bring home from my adventures on the week-end! If he could get that little thumb up, I think he would give this find a "thumbs up"! This is a bunch of wood numbers from 0 to 9 with quite a few of each number.

I was able to do some estate shopping this week-end. I didn't get my name on any list but I was able to find a few things! I did bring home five pieces of furniture, which is good and bad. I don't have room in the shop to restock my booth so I store it here at home. I did put a few pieces on consignment though, which helps.

Here are a few little things I picked up.

I believe this is a laundry bag. I've never seen on quite like it. I also picked up a sweet shoe bag made from the same fabric.

Then lastly, my #1 and I went to an auction on Friday night. There weren't a whole lot of things I was interested in but this child's stroller came up and there wasn't a lot of action on it soo.... I went for it!

Well, that's all for now, got to get going! Thank you for stopping by!

A Visit From A Sweet Friend!

Today I had a wonderful treat! My good friend Vicki came by for lunch. It was fun getting together, sharing ideas and catching up on everything that's been happening. I thoroughly enjoy talking with her as she is an extremely talented artist, full of wonderful ideas and projects. She was so sweet and brought me a beautiful gift with so many goodies in it. There were beautiful stars, that she made with lots of bling and even a sweet vintage rhinestone clock, which she knew I would love, and I did! She is just starting a blog so be sure to drop by and see what she has been up too. She is a wonderful photographer of vintage items so I'm sure you will enjoy it.

The World of Narnia Comes To An End.

This was a fast and furious week-end. Filled to the brim with the world of Narnia. We had six shows this week-end plus a strike party after the show. I feel like I need another week-end, to feel like I had a week-end. I didn't hit any estate sales, but it didn't look like much was going on. I don't think I would have had time to go anyway. One of the many things I had to do this week-end was take down the items in the window at Monticello. Our month was over, so we squeezed that in between a couple of shows and were able to get it cleaned up. I picked up a few items while I was there. They were having a "Superbowl Sale" so most of the booths had discounts.

The sweet little cream pottery vase above was one of the items I found.

I also picked up this old music book from the 1800's. Besides music there are pictures of composers, which I just love.

I also found a pink hat with pretty millinery flowers on it. I wasn't so interested in the hat, but I can always use the flowers.

Here is a thrift store find from yesterday. A pretty vintage lamp shade in cream and pink.

Then finally, I got a wonderful surprise on Friday night. I knew my sister, husband and three of their kids were driving from Medford to come to my son's play. What I didn't know was my niece and her husband and their sweet baby, my grandniece were coming too! Little Alexis is 2 months old and all I have seen have been photos. How wonderful to actually be able to see and hold my little grandniece.

Babies are truly a gift from God!

This week I will be working on laundry. One of my jobs I have for the Narnia play is to wash costumes. I took home all the furry animal costumes. Let me tell you there were quite a few of them!

Thank you for stopping by!
