This week I said,"Good-bye" to an old friend. We have had our piano for quite a few years. Like a lot of mothers out there I had great aspirations for my son. I dreamed that one day he would play the piano, and love doing it! So, we started piano lessons. At first it went pretty well but after a while it became harder and harder to get him to practice. And I got tired of making him practice. So, the beautiful piano just sat against the wall displaying my vintage pottery but not being used like it should be. Of course in defence of my son I have to admit that I too took a few years of piano lessons when I was younger and sad to say I am not a great pianist! But I do admire those who can sit in front of those ivory keys and make them come alive!
I'm telling you this to say on Monday a family came and picked up the piano. Maybe I shouldn't say picked up as it took 4 guys and some major blood, from the piano tilting slightly to get her into the UHaul. With the piano gone this left a whole wall for me to do something with! I had just the piece of furniture I wanted to put there. If you remember quite a few post back I had bought an old pie cabinet, which I had been using at the shop for display.
Well, she came back home with me, "Thanks Honey!". I've had a lot of fun filling her up!
I just love the look of old hardware. So, these door fixtures proudly sit in my display! I know my #1 must think I'm nuts, but it gets them out of his garage and I know he likes that!
Lastly, I was able to make a thrift store stop yesterday and found a couple of sweet vintage tiaras, a fun find!
Thanks so much for stopping by and seeing what I've been up too!
Wow, I just saw that this will be my 98th post so be sure to watch for my 100th post. I'll try and put together some goodies for you!

I saw your blog on Mindy's from Primitiques n Poetry today. That was a lovely piano, but am sure you will love playing w/ your new cabinet. I noticed on your sidebar the shop on Stark Ave. We used to live on 82nd and Glisan (approx.). My husband graduated from Multnomah. I, also, attended classes there....many yrs ago! Just thought I'd mention that as we are quite far away now. (dallas area) Have a great day!

Hey Deb your cabinet looks really nice. I bet you feel like you gained a lot of space too.
"thanks honey" LOL.
I don't think you're nuts! I love looking at all of it.
What fun you will have filling and refilling that cabinet! Sue's ottoman inspired me too. I'm thinking of tackling a slipcover for a chair. I gotta be nuts! Hope to see you soon, M.

Hello Debbie,
This is my first time to your blog and I loved the visit. This post made me think how lovely would it be to have someone in the family who can fill the house with music. It wouldn't be me though... Sad to see the piano go but the cabinet looks gorgeous with all your pretty stuff.
