Just Another Day, Or AT Least A Sick Day!

Ok, today is my 2nd sick day from work.

This nasty cold!

Since my son is home schooled, I went into his room this morning and told him that I was staying home from work today, and not to be too disappointed!

He was sweet enough to inform me that he wasn't disappointed.

What? He likes me to stay home?

Is this the same son that thinks I'm the meanest mom ever?

I had a friend say to me, "How can you be the meanest mom in the world, I am!"

Sixteen, what a life changing age. And I'm not talking about him but for his mother!

To all the mother's of teen-agers, I salute you!

Lamentations 3:21

This I recall to my mind. Therefore I have hope. The Lord's lovingkindnesses indeed never cease. For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning. Great is Thy faithfulness.

A Lazy Week-End!

This was kind of a lazy week-end.

Lazy, because I caught a nasty cold and didn't feel like doing much of anything.

I did manage to keep my #1 one busy though!

We sold our garden bench at the shop so on Saturday we headed to the rebuilders center to buy more wood for another bench.

He managed to get a five hour time period where it wasn't raining so he was able to build a bench.

It turned out great, the wood has wonderful chippy paint, which I like.

We were able to take it in today as well as other things filling up the empty spaces.

Another thing I was able to do this week-end was to soak these sweet little vintage dress in OxiClean and dry them on the line.

I don't know, there's just something endearing about seeing pretty vintage garments drying on the line.

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Monticello Garden Show

Today is the opening day for the Garden Show at Monticello.

There are a total of 15 participants this year.

Everyone did such a fabulous job setting up for it.

These past two weeks I've been drawing and figuring out how I would use my 10 ft by 2 ft space.

Here is what I finally came up with.

My space sounds small but I was a last minute addition to the show.

I originally said that I wasn't going to participate this year. Then two weeks ago I was asked if I'd like to decorate this little space and I said, "Sure, I'd love too!"

The Garden Show is one of my favorite shows, what was I thinking!

Now here are some of the other GREAT Ladies that participated.

My sweet friend Sue from Bella Shabby

My talented sister-in-law Kathy from Colby Cottage

And the fabulous twins, Diana and Donna from Annie, Fannie and AbigailJudy and Braeda

Melanie from All My Favorite Things

Lynne Gunderson & Heather Arnis - Rustica!

Martha from Vintage Trifles
and Diane from Molly Mo's

Julie & Jeff

Joy from A Day In The Life

The Garden Show runs through the 3rd week-end of May. So if you're in the Portland area be sure to stop by!

Flowers And Frogs!

The sun is out today, and I'm loving it!

It's suppose to stick around for awhile too!

The pretty roses were my inspiration for this post.

I'm enjoying buying roses right now.

The prices aren't that bad and I do appreciate them.

One of my little splurges.

I'm also enjoying using my old frogs in the vases to hold up those pretty flowers.

I want to show you some of the frogs I've collected along the way.

I'll start with the one I'm using for my pretty posies.

Here is an old photo of my father and his siblings.

A fun way to show off vintage pictures.

I have to say, "I haven't met a frog I didn't like."

So, go out there and buy yourself a beautiful bouquet of flowers and use your old frogs!

And be sure to stop and smell the flowers along the way!

A Very Full Week-End!

Wow! Do you ever think you need a week-end just to recuperate from the week-end?

That was my week-end!

It was a non-stop!

We went from one thing to another.

My sweet parents even went to one thing so we could be at another during the same time!

I went to the one and only estate sale on Saturday and it was a good one!

I don't have a lot of pictures as I had to quickly hide put things away to get ready for our Easter dinner the next day.

Here is a pretty crochet pillow I found.

Guess what it's filled with!

I was surprised to find nylons inside.

This was a pretty photo album.

Inside the album are pretty pages like this.

Isn't this a sweet cottage picture, with a little cleaning it will go somewhere in my house!

I'm always on the lookout for Christmas items and here are a couple of pretty trees made with fabulous vintage rhinestone pieces.

I guess that's all for now.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

He Has Risen!

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8

"For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved."

John 3:17

On the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb, bringing the spices which they had prepared.

And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.

John 24:1-3

"Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and rise again from the dead the third day."

John 24:46

"Let not your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me.

In My Father's house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you."

"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also."

John 14:1-3

He did that for me!

And for you!

Old Metal, You've Got To Love It!

Ok, so I think I have a fascination for old metal items. And apparently kitchen items are on the top of the list.

My poor husband cringes whenever I come out of the kitchen, of an estate sale, holding a vintage piece of 1940's kitchenware!

Did that make it sound more appealing?

1940's

I picked up this vintage bread box at an auction. The color was wonderful and of course "metal".

Ok, let's talk storage!

I use these bread boxes to hold utensils that I don't use that often, yet still need occasionally.

I love this old stool, pink and black. I haven't seen another one like it, so I'm glad I kept it.

This was for you honey, the perfect place to store your potatoes, onions and garlic.

Little metal timers as well!

And of course they're sitting on a metal cart.

Here's another cart that holds my microwave as well as other metal tins.

Breadboxes came in all sizes, notice the rectangular bread box on the bottom shelf. This is the perfect size for one loaf of bread.

Oh, and who doesn't like an old cake tin, especially if there's cake in it!

Here's a few old garbage cans as well.

Here's a picture of a few of the metal chairs I have on my deck.

Lastly, another old breadbox that I use in my bathroom to hold towels!

Well, I better stop there as it's starting to look like an addiction to metal.

But don't you just like the look of old pieces!
