* * * * * * * * * Happy 4th of July! * * * * * * * * * * *

Ok, I need your thoughts on this, can you tell me what this is?

This opens up and the inside can be lifted out.

On each end there is a head of a man. There is pretty detail work on the top.

My #1 thinks it might be an ashtray. Me, I don't know, I just liked the patina and the look about it.

I'm sure it's worth millions! You know, one of those Goodwill purchases that ends up to be "big bucks". (o:

I went back to the shop yesterday to take a picture of the window. The pictures didn't turn out very great, but here are a couple for you to look at.

As you can see (or can't see)it was hard to take a picture with the reflection of the window.

Hi Debbie!
I have one of those, too, that my 90 year old aunt gave me. She said it was a victorian butter holder. Ice would go in the bottom, and a little glass plate fit in (I have that) and you set slices of butter on it and close the lid...Is there a place on yours that would hold a butter knife? Mine does.
Hope that helps!
OR it COULD be an ashtray--you know how those victorians were--something beautiful for everything!! ;-)
Have a wonderful 4th and weekend!!
Blessings to you!
p.s. LOVE your window display!!

Hi Debbie!
Hope you had an enjoyable day..we just finished eating and I feel like I could take a looong nap!
The silver piece is most likely a butter dish. I had one a long time ago and sold it in my antique mall space. It came with a butter knife and it was super old like yours. I should have the pictures of the room up by tonight. She LOVES having her own space and it has given her so much more room in her bedroom. talk to you later!

Debbie, your window looks amazing!!! So many yummy things I could just bring home!! My first guess for the silver bowl is a butter dish... Take care!
